About the property

Substantial lodge tucked away on a parcel of private Australian bushland. Just over ten minutes’ drive from Daylesford, The Gums offers lodgers a uniquely serene experience surrounded by 44 acres of trees and pasture. Large groups of up to 12 guests can stay at the property, making it especially ideal for 2 or 3 families holidaying together.

The space
Freshly refurbished, the home’s interiors have been elevated to new heights with a design philosophy that emphasises the property’s connection with nature. The kitchen, dining and main lounge share a beautifully finished open-plan space with plenty of natural light and access to the porch. The living room is cosy with a large coonara, plush grey couches and rustic wooden furniture. Tapestries adorn the walls and faux potted plants provide splashes of refreshing greenery.

The kitchen and dining room is fully equipped with high-quality appliances and plenty of bench space for all sorts of culinary adventures. The space plays with contrast between light and dark, sparkling white walls and natural sunlight complementing dark wooden cabinets and furniture, while a lovely array of houseplants add vibrancy. Stools for breakfast bar seating, a small fireplace and leather armchairs round out the room. Down the hall, guests will find the dining table proper in an elegant room flooded with natural light which also has access to the deck area.

The home’s five bedrooms collectively offer 4 king split beds, and 2 sets of single bunks. The newly revamped lodgings boast rustic yet plush furnishings. Fascinating wooden lattice designs adorn the walls while faux plants bring life into the rooms, working to enhance the warm greys, browns and whites that make up the colour palette. In addition to the home’s 3 woodfire heaters, split-system heating and cooling allow for year-round temperature regulation.

The Gums embraces its verdant surrounds, with a wide porch on one side of the home and a wrap-around deck on the other. The alfresco deck area offers two ample seating arrangements, ideal for relaxing while surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Australian bush. The gas barbecue and rolling lawns make this the perfect space for friends, family and children to gather and enjoy themselves.

Large, cosy and newly revitalised, The Gums offers guests a private retreat away from the hassles of everyday life in the splendour of the Aussie bush without sacrificing the comforts of home.
