Experience geometry as a universal language and a meditative and contemplative practice. Throughout this four day course, students will explore recurring patterns in nature
through geometry in Sacred & Traditional Art around the world
using traditional tools, a compass and a straight edge.

Morning Class ~ 1000 ~ 13:00

Borobudur Mandala, Central Java Indonesia

~ Draw the largest Mandala Of The World ~

Walk up and around with compass and ruler,

the ancient steps of Borobudur Temple.

A spectacular 9th century three-dimensional Mandala.

(Budur) comes from Javanese term bhudhara ("mountain").

Mountains and high places are the abode of ancestral spirits or hyangs.

Class will be complimented with slides discussing a brief synthesis on the outstanding universal value this Ancient Monument has to offer the world.

Afternoon Class 1400 ~ 1700

Gayatri Yantra Drawing

The Yantra a geometric design acting as a highly efficient tool

for contemplation, concentration and meditation.

Stephanie will guide participants through drawingThe Gayatri Yantra with the traditional tools of a compass and straight edge in order to find a focal point concentrating the mind on a single, simple object ceasing tones mental chatter.

Class will commence with a presentation on Yantras

and the Vastu Shastra System, followed by The Geometric Construction .

Day Two & Three

Saturday & Sunday 28/29 Feb

Draw and Build The Fundamentals Of Dimension

Available as a weekend course

Participants will draw and build with paper and bamboo sticks

The Platonic Solids in their original and stellated form.

Theorised upon by Plato, these five geometric constructions

and their combinations contain every fundamental law to material existence.

He associated each of the four classical elements (earth, air, water, and fire) with a regular solid.

Earth was associated with the cube, air with the octahedron, water with the icosahedron,

and fire with the tetrahedron. Of the fifth Platonic solid, the dodecahedron, Plato remarked, that

"God used it for arranging the constellations on the whole heaven"

Stephanie will present and discuss where to find these forms In Nature and Ancient Architecture connecting one to the mythos & symbolic nature of humankind.
